It's Wednesday and we're in Arles today. It's rather warm so we are enjoying a bit of wine and olives by the Roman ampitheatre and Colliseum, one if the best preserved in all of europe next to Rome. pardon our absence- wifi has been difficult to come by, the connection at the hotel in Nantes lasted about 5 minutes. We are now staying in a lovely apartment in Avignon, our center for exploring Provence. Nantes was wonderful, beautiful city with great nightlife and no tourists. there are lots of tourists in southern france and its clear the locals are at the end of the season and looking forward to some peace and quiet.
arles is heaven for a photographer. every window, door, doorknob is a feast for the eyes. i even found the little stairway where my dad took a picture of me when i was here in high school. Dad, i know you remember those steps.
tomorrow we explore Nimes and after that the small villages of the Luberon. hope to check back in with more pictures soon! a toute a l'heure!
