Avignon

We arrived in Avignon tuesday afternoon, receiving the very large key to our sizable apartment around 2:30pm. we opened the main door and found three levels of apartment, each with a plethora of doors. we didnt know which door belonged to us. i went back to the lady we picked up the key from and she laughed when i told her il y a beaucoup des portes- there are a lot of doors. She brought us to the 2nd floor and then showed us the rooftop terrace, all for us. no one is living upstairs and we havent heard anyone else so im pretty sure we have the whole building to ourselves. The apartment is beautiful, tastefully decorated with french and chinese antiques. hope we dont break anything, like the two marble tables in the courtyard.
Last night we decided to skip the menu decoding exercise and cook. Kevin made chicken on the bbq with sauteed mushrooms and garlic. something about the butter here is just amazing.
We ate on the terrace in the sunset, it was just beautiful. this apartment is very relaxing, home away from home. Kevin did mention everything is ancient, including the cooking utensils. Charming but annoying at the same time. Were having wine and baguette with dinner again- why, because thats how the French do it. :)
